Restaurant Industry: Members of the firm have represented restaurant companies since 1990. The firm defends general liability and dram shop lawsuits across the country. In our national counsel role, we develop extremely close relationships with our clients and get to know their businesses. Through this, we counsel them on safety policies, procedures and handbooks, and assist them in taking a proactive approach to claims handling. We also represent our restaurant clients in workers' compensation claims, contract disputes, landlord/tenant disputes, and employment law matters.

Railroad Industry: The firm has over 25 years of experience handling FELA, crossing accident and third-party injury litigation for major Class 1 railroads. As counsel for the largest railroads in the United States and Canada, the firm defends FELA cases, crossing accidents, and handles commercial litigation and administrative/regulatory law matters. Les Gelhar and Charlie Hvass are certified as Civil Trial Specialists by the State of Minnesota. Mr. Gelhar previously achieved notable success as a plaintiff’s FELA attorney, but his railroad work is now devoted to the defense. David Donna has been recognized by the Best Lawyers in America, Railroad Section, for over two decades.

Retail Industry: The general liability issues that restaurants face are the same that challenge the retail industry. The firm is national counsel to a retail chain of over 3,400 stores and represents the chain in it's general and auto liability matters. The firm has represented major national and regional retail companies, helping them to successfully defend general liability lawsuits locally and throughout the country.

General Litigation: As national and state counsel for both large and small businesses, our lawyers perform many functions to meet the varied needs of our clients. Our representation includes contract disputes, employment law, real estate litigation and other general commercial litigation.

Worker's Compensation: The firm defends various of it's clients in their Worker's Compensation matters throughout the state of California.

Notable Dates

1990 - Buffets, Inc. selects David Donna as its national general liability litigation counsel for its Old Country Buffet chain.

September 1996 - Buffets, Inc. and HomeTown Buffet, Inc. merge.

October 2002 - Donna and Daly, P.C. formed.

May 2004 - VICORP Restaurants, Inc. selects Donna and Daly as national counsel for its Bakers Square and Village Inn restaurants.

March 2005 - Donna and Daly become national counsel for Buffalo Wild Wing's corporate-owned locations.

November 2006 - Buffets, Inc. merges with Ryan's Restaurant Group, Inc.

April 2007 - Donna and Daly selected as national counsel for Champps restaurants.

October 2008 - Donna Law Firm, P.C. is selected as national counsel for Bob Evans Farms / Mimi's Café.

January 2009 - Firm changes name to Donna Law Firm, P.C.

June 2010 - Donna Law Firm, P.C. is selected as national counsel for Advance Auto Parts.

Spring 2012 - American Blue Ribbon Holdings and O'Charley's merge.

November 2012 - Donna Law Firm, P.C. is selected as national counsel for Franchise Insurance Group.

December 2012 - Donna Law Firm, P.C. is selected as national counsel for Garden Fresh Corporation.

2012 - Donna Law Firm, P.C. is selected as one of the Best Law Firms in Minnesota (US News & World Report).

2015 - Donna Law Firm, P.C. is selected as a Top Ranked Law Firm (Corporate Counsel).

2018 - Donna Law Firm, P.C. is selected as one of the Best Law Firms in Minnesota (US News & World Report).
